President Trump had a mic-dropping moment while speaking to U.K. leaders in Scotland, exposing powerful Democrats like Bill Clinton and Larry Summers for their frequent trips to infamous predator Jeffrey Epstein’s island, while also vindicating himself by clarifying that he never went to the island.
For background, on July 28, 2025, President Trump spoke to a group of United Kingdom political leaders, including Prime Minister Keir Starmer, explaining that he had never gone to visit Jeffrey Epstein’s island, and that he and Epstein had had a major falling out in the 2000s. The president went on to call out several key Democratic political figures for their longtime involvement with Epstein.
During the meeting, President Trump said of Jeffrey Epstein’s infamous island, “I never went,” adding, “And Bill Clinton went there supposedly 28 times.” He continued, “I never went to the island, but [former Treasury Secretary] Larry Summers, I hear, went there, he was the head of Harvard. And many other people that are very big people, nobody ever talks about them.”
Additionally, the president clarified during the interview, “I never had the privilege of going to his island, and I did turn it down,” adding, “In one of my very good moments, I turned it down.” Moreover, President Trump explained that Epstein had tried to recruit members of Trump’s staff, which had created a rift between the two in the 2000s.
Continuing, President Trump explained that he “wouldn’t talk to Jeffrey Epstein” for years, going on to say that Epstein had “hired help,” and adding, “And I said, ‘Don’t ever do that again.’ He stole work people that work for me.” The president then clarified, “He did it again. And I threw him out of the place persona non grata.”
In addition, during the interview, the president disavowed a drawing that the Wall Street Journal had previously reported was sent by him to Jeffrey Epstein in a birthday card in 2003. President Trump said, “I don’t do drawings. I’m not a drawing person. I don’t do drawings. Sometimes people would say, ‘Would you do a building?’ And I’ll draw four lines and a little roof, you know, for a charity.”
Then, President Trump clarified further that he was “not a drawing person,” adding, “I don’t do drawings of women — that I can tell you. They say there’s a drawing of a woman, and I don’t do drawings of women.” Furthermore, the president called the Epstein scandal a “hoax that’s been built up way beyond proportion.”
Moreover, the president broached the topic of a potential pardon for Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein’s longtime associate, who reportedly has been in talks with the Department of Justice. President Trump said, “I’m allowed to give her a pardon,” adding, “Nobody’s approached me with it, nobody’s asked me about it. It’s in the news, about that, that aspect of it. But right now it would be inappropriate to talk about it.”
