My mother-in-law is vegan and very focused on healthy eating. She often babysits our kids because my partner and I work a lot. In our household, we all eat meat, and our kids love it. To make things easier for her, I always prepare balanced meals in advance so she doesn’t have to cook.
Recently, I noticed that the kids started getting regular headaches and were often throwing up. Concerned, I took them to the doctor, and I was shocked to find out that they were underweight and had multiple nutritional deficiencies.
One day, I came home earlier than usual and discovered my mother-in-law throwing away all the meals I had prepared. It turns out she had been feeding the kids only her vegan dishes, which were extremely plain and lacking essential nutrients — she didn’t even use basic ingredients like salt or oil. No wonder the kids weren’t eating properly.
I immediately told her she could no longer babysit our children. Now, she’s upset and says I’m being “ungrateful,” but I feel I had to put my kids’ health first.
