My Husband’s Coworker Is Crossing Boundaries, and I Don’t Know What to Do

I (29F) have been married to my husband (32M) for 4 years, and honestly, we’ve had a pretty smooth relationship overall. However, something happened recently that I can’t shake off, and I’m wondering if I overreacted or if I’m justified in being upset.

I got up at 5 a.m. to prepare my husband’s preferred meal to take to work. We’ve had a busy week, and I knew he’d be running late, so I decided to surprise him with something homemade. He’s always been picky about food, but I’ve been perfecting his favorite breakfast burrito recipe for months. I woke up early to make sure it was fresh and ready for him before he left. He was already getting dressed when I finished the meal and packed it up nicely for him to take.

When he came home that evening, I noticed something was off. He seemed a little uncomfortable, which was unusual. After a while, he casually mentioned that he hadn’t eaten the food I made. I was confused and asked why. He explained that his young coworker had already brought him something and said, “I didn’t want to be rude, so I took it.”

Hearing this made my blood boil. I tried to stay calm, but inside, I was fuming. He didn’t even try my food—he just went with whatever his coworker brought, even though I spent an hour preparing his meal. I was hurt and honestly felt disrespected.

I didn’t want to start a fight, so I tried to keep my cool. But I couldn’t let it go. When he noticed I wasn’t really talking much the rest of the night, he asked if something was wrong. I told him that I felt like he didn’t appreciate the effort I put in for him, and his response was pretty dismissive. He said, “It wasn’t a big deal, you know. I didn’t want to seem like a jerk, especially since they were being so nice.”
