Joyce was murdered on Tuesday (1), and the main suspect in the crime is her ex-boyfriend, Vinícius Souza Meira, 26. Their relationship lasted four months and ended just 15 days before the murder. The young woman’s mother believes the motive was jealousy. ” She left him because she didn’t like him ,” she said.
Despite never reporting any assault or threats, Joyce faced her mother’s disapproval of the relationship . “I met him on New Year’s. He wasn’t the right man for her ,” she said.
Joyce and her mother lived on the same property in Brasilândia, north of São Paulo, Brazil. On the morning of the crime, the mother was at work. Around noon, she received messages from her former son-in-law. “ He said he was in the woods fleeing from the police ,” she stated.
Worried, Mrs. Edenilde rushed to her daughter’s house and was met with a brutal scene. There was blood on the floor. My daughter was in bed and still managed to say, “It was Vinícius.”
Joyce was rescued and taken to the hospital, but she did not survive her injuries. She leaves behind four siblings. Joyce dreamed of being a mother. She had already lost two babies, who were born with a lung condition. Vinícius Souza Meira is a fugitive, and her family is demanding justice.
