BREAKING NEWS: The U.S. is sending the aircraft carrier USS Gerald R. Ford along with five destroyers to Latin America, marking a major escalation in its military presence near Venezuela. Pentagon officials say the move is to detect, monitor, and disrupt illicit actors, but many see it as a pressure tactic against President Nicolás Maduro’s government.
Currently, about 6,000 U.S. personnel are already in the region, and the carrier strike group will add an additional 4,500. The U.S. has also authorized CIA operations in Venezuela, raising concerns over potential military action. Venezuela has warned it will respond forcefully to any attempt to topple the government, calling this the most significant military threat in 100 years.
