Fatal accident leaves the son of
There were 19 people in the vehicle, according to the Federal Highway Police (PRF), and after the traffic collision in the city of Grão Mogol, eight adults and one child were found dead.
Twelve other injured people were rescued. According to the Fire Department, several passengers were trapped in the wreckage.
The people traveling in the minibus were from the state of Ceará (northeast), from the Cariri region, from cities such as Barro, Mauriti and Brejo Santo.
A note of condolence was issued this Wednesday by the mayor of Barro, George Feitosa.
“We express our solidarity with the families of the victims of the tragic accident involving a van traveling from Minas Gerais to Barro,” the statement said.
The truck driver and a passenger suffered minor injuries and received medical attention at the scene. They underwent a breathalyzer test, which came back negative, and were released, according to the PRF.
The bodies of the victims were taken to the Forensic Medical Institute in the Montes Claros mining municipality. The relevant authorities are investigating the accident.
