The brutal murder of 10-year-old Sara Sharif shocked the world, sparking outrage against her father, Urfan Sharif, who confessed to killing her after a two-year “campaign of torture.” Sara was found in her Woking home with over 70 injuries, including fractures, burns, and bite marks, alongside a handwritten confession from her father.
Urfan, his wife Beinash Batool, and Sara’s uncle fled to Pakistan but were later captured. In December 2024, Urfan received life in prison with a minimum of 40 years, Batool 33 years, and Malik 16 years.
Soon after entering HMP Belmarsh, notorious for housing dangerous criminals, Urfan became a target due to his crimes against a child. On New Year’s Day, two inmates attacked him with a tuna can lid, slashing his neck and face. He survived but will bear scars for life.
Prison sources say the assault was inevitable, with inmates believing justice was served. One alleged attacker, Steve Sansom, is serving life for multiple murders.
